Mark was raised in Preston, IA, and is the fifth child of ten. He received undergraduate degrees from Loras College in Dubuque, IA, in Social Work, History, as well as an Honors degree in 2005. He earned a Master of Social Work from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA, in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Catholic Thought and Life from St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN, in 2010. He is currently serving as a a pastoral associate for two Catholic parishes and is the Director of Respect Life and Social Justice for the Archdiocese of Dubuque. He is also a certified firefighter and has served as a volunteer firefighter since 2000. Mark currently has several writing projects in the works including a couple fictional Catholic novellas, an academic article on concientioius objection in the social work field, and a textbook on Catholic Social Doctrine.
The most influential saints on his life have been St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Moses the Ethiopian, St. Dominic, St. Catherine of Sienna, St. John of the Cross, and Blessed John Paul II.
