As we continue to celebrate Christmas (the season ends with the Baptism of the Lord) consider this: Parents spend hundreds and thousands of $$ on presents each year and sadly, too often, they deprive their children of the most important gift, that of the Eucharist. It is a sad reality that many children are unable to receive the Child Jesus in a very real and profound way by receiving the Eucharist because their parents do not attend mass themselves. The true reason for Christmas is to remember and recognize that we have been offered the most perfect gift, the gift of Jesus Christ who brings us salvation. The Eucharist offers us a continual opportunity to receive Christ, just as the Magi received him over 2000 years ago. Next year, take it easy on the presents, and offer your children the gift of the REAL PRESENCE in the Eucharist.
